VOLLEYBALL MANAWATU'S DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY FOR COMPETITIVE PLAYERS
The Manawatū Regional Volleyball Association (MRVA) has established a development pathway for ambitious and committed regional athletes.
This pathway is intended to provide a training and competition environment that effectively prepares Manawatū volleyball athletes for competition at an elite national or international level.
2024 is the inaugural year of the programme. The programme is available to U17 and U19 age groups, and works in conjunction with club and school-based volleyball activities.
The programme will comprise a winter (indoor) and summer (beach) volleyball season. Each season is structured to enable preparation and participation at the national Interprovincial Championships. More information on each season is held on the relevant page.
The MRVA elite development pathway is intended to foster both individual and regional success.
The programme intends to support all ambitious athletes within playing and non-playing squads. Athletes selected in playing squads will be able to access additional coaching and competition opportunities, while non-playing athletes will be supported and offered frequent re-selection opportunities.
In its early years, the programme will focus on establishing a positive culture of high performance. Over time, the programme will increase its focus on improving competitive performance and results, through quantitative assessment and programme design.
