What referee development is about

Referee Development provides an opportunity to play a key role in the delivery and enjoyment of the game of volleyball for all players, coaches and participants.

Refereeing in volleyball delivers consistent opportunities to support the competition and events you are involved and is a great way to give back to the game after you have finished playing.

Refereeing provides the chance for our members to utilise and develop people skills, and pursue a challenging path that provides opportunities from local levels right through to the international stage.

Referee Development Staff Expression of Interest

Volleyball Manawatu are looking to engage with our Local and Regional Qualified Referees as a way to increase game management and quality of our leagues. This offer will also create opportunities for our players to earn money towards their volleyball fees.


Please fill in the form below, as an expression of interest to be apart of the Referee Development team. We will work through candidates' applications and offer spots based on skill, experience levels and alignment to the programs needs.

    I am interested in being part of a Referee Development team to help educate referees and referee competitive matches.

    A Volleyball New Zealand on-line course has been created. This allows for regionally based participants to gain a qualification without travelling to a course.  SIGN UP HERE

    Required for: Senior Premier Tournament, Junior Premier League, Senior Premier League Coaches and players.

    The course for this is a half day course, it includes has a written exam and requires you to be assessed refereeing more than one game. 

    Required for: VNZ Inter-Provencial Championship and NZ National Tour
