What membership is About

Membership connects individuals, clubs, schools, and supporters to the wider volleyball community in the Manawatū region. Through membership, participants contribute to the growth, sustainability, and future direction of the sport while gaining access to competitions, development opportunities, representative pathways, resources, and community programmes. Membership also strengthens the collective voice of volleyball in our region, enabling Volleyball Manawatū to advocate for participants, deliver quality experiences, and continue building safe, inclusive, and sustainable opportunities across all ages, stages, and levels of the game.


INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS

VOLLEYBALL MANAWATU INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

Volleyball Manawatu have enabled individual membership through our updated Constitution

This application is in alignment to Constitution clause 4.2:

 

Membership is available to any person who is a member of a Club, School or Organisation Member of Volleyball Manawatu, Officers or Appointed Personnel of Volleyball Manawatu, Volleyball Manawatu Service Award holders, any individual who plays, referees, officiates, manages or provides services to for or in any Volleyball team competing in any Volleyball game or any interested person. (clause 4.6)

 

However, all players, coaches, trainers, and managers participating in VNZ events must be both members of their Regional Association and VNZ.

 

The organisation will maintain the confidentiality of all personal information collected and will not use or disclose such information for any purpose other than those directly related to the activities of Volleyball Manawatū, unless required to do so by Volleyball New Zealand or by law.

 

Volleyball Manawatu Individual Membership operates on an annual cycle of July- June.

 

Individual Membership is a non-voting member defined as 

  • (a) a person who is a member of a Club, or School or organisation that is also a Member;
  • (b) an Officer or Appointed Personnel of Manawatu Regional Volleyball Association;
  • (c) a person who is an officer of a Regional Association or a Club;
  • (d) a Manawatu Regional Volleyball Association service award holder;
  • (e) an individual who plays, referees, officiates, coaches, manages or provides services to, for or in any Volleyball team competing in any Volleyball game in the region; or
  • (f) any interested person.

I grant Volleyball Manawatu permission to share my membership details with Volleyball New Zealand, as required in VNZ's Constitution 4.8 (g)

4.8 In addition to the obligations as a Member under clause 4.13, each Regional Association that is a Member will:

(g) maintain an up-to-date register of members and, on request, provide VNZ with full
access to that register, in compliance with privacy law (ensuring that the process to
become a member of the Regional Association requires those members to agree to
personal details being shared with VNZ and stored, used and distributed by VNZ in the
pursuit of its Purposes);

Volleyball Manawatu Voting Membership Constitutional Agreement (cl 4.10)  *

Voting Members acknowledge and agree that they will:

  • (a) administer, promote, develop and/or support Volleyball in the Region in a manner that is consistent with this Constitution;
  • (b) ensure its constitution or rules (where applicable) are not inconsistent with this Constitution and, if requested, provide Manawatu Regional Volleyball Association with a copy of its constitution or rules and all proposed amendments to it;
  • (c) if registered as an incorporated society, maintain an updated register of members and, on request, provide Manawatu Regional Volleyball Association with full access to that register, in compliance with the privacy laws; and
  • (d) act in good faith with loyalty to Manawatu Regional Volleyball Association to ensure the maintenance and enhancement of Manawatu Regional Volleyball Association and Volleyball, and its reputation.

As a Member of Volleyball Manawatu, I acknowledge and agree that:

  1.  members are bound by, and will comply with, the Constitution and the Bylaws, and to the extent they apply, the rules, procedures or poilicies of VNZ;

  2. members are subject to the jurisdiction of Volleyball Manawatu;

  3. members are entitled to all rights and entitlements granted by the Constitution or as determined by the Board;

  4. to receive, or continue to receive or excercise member rights, members must meet all the member requirements set out in the Constitution and the Bylaws or as otherwise set by the Board, including payment of any membership or other fees within the required time period;

  5. if members fail to comply with sub-clause (d) the Board may terminated their membership;

  6.  members not have any rights of ownership of, or the automatic right to use, the property of Volleyball Manawatu: and

  7. members will promote the interests and Purposes of Volleyball Manawatu and must not do anything to bring Volleyball Manawatu into disrepute.

Volleyball Manawatu recognise the work of clubs in our region as a group of individuals calling themselves a club, whether or not incorporated, which administers, promotes and develops Volleyball (whether as its primary activity or otherwise) in the Region, which may include a team, and that meets the requirements for membership.

Clubs may become voting or non-voting members of the association per Constitution clause 4.5 & 4.6.

The Manawatū Regional Volleyball Association (MRVA) is the recognised representative body for clubs within the Manawatū region seeking entry into Volleyball New Zealand (VNZ) sanctioned competitions, including the Central Zone League (CZL) and VNZ Club Championships. Clubs participating in any VNZ sanctioned event must affiliate to their region. MRVA manage this affiliation by voting club membership.

VOLLEYBALL MANAWATU CLUB MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

Volleyball Manawatu have enabled club membership through our updated Constitution

This application is in alignment to Constitution clause 4.3- 4.6: 

By submitting an Application, a person or entity consents to become a Member, unless otherwise specified in this Constitution.

Voting Club Membership is available to a Club Member that the Board has determined may have voting rights under clause 5 based on the engagement, participation or representation criteria set out in the relevant Volleyball Manawatu Bylaw. VNZ requires all clubs participating in VNZ events to be affiliated to their Regional Association, Volleyball Manawatu manage this affiliation by way of voting membership.

Any interested club may apply.

The organisation will maintain the confidentiality of all personal information collected and will not use or disclose such information for any purpose other than those directly related to the activities of Volleyball Manawatū, unless required to do so by Volleyball New Zealand or by law.

Volleyball Manawatu Club Membership operates on an annual cycle of July- June.

1. Demonstrate engagement, participation or representation of Volleyball in the Region as shown by any of the following:

  • a. involvement in Volleyball Manawatu Events (more than just entering a team), and/or
  • b. involvement in Volleyball in the Region, and/or
  • c. Competing in regional, zone or national club events

2. Have a Volleyball Manawatu contact who can act on behalf of the Club, and to have a duly authorised representative attend General and Special Meetings 

 

3. Agree to follow the Constitution and any policies, rules or bylaws

 

4. Require their members to comply with Volleyball Manawatu rules, procedures or policies when at Volleyball Manawatu or VNZ Events

 

5. Pay membership and relevant entry fees, if any

2. Unless otherwise approved by the Volleyball Manawatu Board, the club must be within the Region.

4. With respect to Volleyball Manawatu activities the club must agree to follow the Constitution and any policies, rules or bylaws.
